Joliet Junior College will host two events in April and May promoting the work of Dr. Sandra Steingraber, an internationally recognized ecologist, author, and cancer survivor. Both events are free and open to the public, and will be held on JJC’s Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.
On Saturday, April 28, “Living Downstream”, a documentary film based on Dr. Steingraber’s first book, will be shown at 1 p.m. in D-2002. The film will be followed by a discussion.
On Wednesday, May 9, Dr. Steingraber will give a presentation in the JJC Theatre at 6 p.m. After the presentation, a dessert reception and book signing will be held. Due to limited seating availability, reservations are required for the presentation: please visit

Dr. Steingraber is an internationally recognized ecologist, author, and cancer survivor. She has keynoted conferences on health and the environment throughout the U.S. and Canada, and has lectured at many universities, including Harvard and Yale.
Her first book, “Living Downstream“, discusses the environmental links between cancer and human health. Her latest book, “Raising Elijah”, explores how the ongoing environmental crisis threatens the health of children. Both books are available for purchase in the JJC Bookstore.
