Education

Environmental education increases public awareness and knowledge about the world in which we live. In doing so, we can provide our communities the necessary skills to make informed decisions and take responsible environmental actions. Will County offers a variety of educational opportunities for all ages. We set up educational tables/displays, provide interactive presentations for student and community groups, and perform community recycling events that you can take part in.

Teachers may request classroom presentations all year long. These hands-on talks engage students and encourage them to consider ways to better the environment through resource conservation and recycling. Will County implemented the Earth Flag School Program nearly twenty years ago and now encompasses lessons in waste reduction, recycling, composting, and energy--all to protect our local and global environment. The enthusiasm of our schools has been overwhelming as the program continues to grow.

To get started, take a look at the "School Earth Flag Information Page" (above left).  Download the Earth Flag APPLICATION (click here), complete, and return to us (contact info on application).

Will County also offers the We WILL Grow garden program for schools and community groups. Visit that page for information on how your group can engage in growing food locally!
