Recycle old shoes, clothes, and other textiles at the County Office Building Monday through Friday during normal business hours in cooperation with Helping Hands. Helping Hands supplies thrift stores with a wide selection of must-have secondhand clothing keeping more than millions of pounds of reusable goods from reaching landfills each year.

This event will accept the following items in good or torn, stained and poor condition:

Clothing, Coats, Shirts, Pants, Dresses, Skirts, Jackets, Sweaters, Shoes, Boots, Sneakers/Gym Shoes, Socks, Hats, Neckties, Gloves/Mittens, Drapes, Curtains, Table linens, Bedding, Sheets, Pillow Covers, Blankets, Towels, and fabrics of any kind.

On Friday from 6:00am - 4:00pm a truck will be onsite in the parking lot where you may recycle small furniture, resuable CDs, Books, Movies, Paintings, Photo Frames, Plates/Dishes, Utensils, working small appliances and other reusable home goods.

Sample bags of compost made from food scraps to be used as a valuable nutrient suppliment in gardens and flower beds will be given to those bringing textiles (limit 2 bags per household). The compost is offered through Organix, the company piloting food scrap collection with Will County and two Plainfield High Schools!

See Scott Slocum and the morning show gang from WJOL AM1340 on Friday morning 6am-9:00am! Drop-off a few bags of items from your school or business and get a shout out for your efforts over the radio!
