Sample and identify aquatic organisms in Hickory Creek streams. In addition to sampling, the public is invited to tours of the Washington Street drinking water treatment plant, touch a truck, catch basin activity, and cook-out.

The City of Joliet invites the public to attend this FREE event on Saturday, Septmeber 16, 2017 for 9:30am until noon. Team up with researchers and biologists to help sample and identify aquatic organisms in Hickory Creek at this BioBlitz. 

This event is looking for volunteers, "Citizen Scientists." What better way to get involved in your own community, while learning more about the biology of your stream. As a "Citizen Scientist" you will assist the "Bio-Blitz Scientist" in collecting and sorting aquatic organisms in our streams. Adults and children of all ages are welcome to attend. 

This event will be held at the Joliet Water and Sewer Service Center located at 921 Washington Street, Joliet. In addition to the BioBlitz sampling, the public is invited to join in the following activites:

-Tours of the Washington Street Drinking Water Treatment Plant

-Touch A Truck: vactor, backhoe, front end loader

-Catch Basin Activity

-Cook-out
